I really love the moon and stars, and recently have started getting more into zodiacs, both Western and Chinese. I wanted my piece to feature the moon phases and was going to put my Western zodiac on the center. I had plans to connect the moon phases using stars, but since the piece was so small I decided to attach the moon phases to a strip of clay.
Describe:
Describe your piece. How would you describe it to someone who couldn’t see it? My piece is a headband, with cardboard semi circles sticking up vertically. Attached to these circles I have gems and skewers sticking up. The whole crown is gold. This piece pairs with a gold mask lined at the top with gold gems, and has gold hot glue drips on it. Analyze: Is the piece cohesive? Does it go together? Is it well balanced visually? My piece goes together well. I think a lot of it is due to everything being gold. Also, the use of gems both on the crown and the mask really help to tie it together, and I think balance it visually. Interpret: What is the overall mood or feeling from your piece? I wanted the mood of my piece to reflect my mood over being a senior this year. I wanted the gold and the crown to be reflective of the glory being a senior, but the mask "dripping" off to represent how it feels like it is slipping away from us. Judge: Do you feel your piece was successful? Why or why not? I feel that my piece was successful! I think that it all worked well together, and it ended up photographing pretty well. I also feel that while my meaning behind wasn't immediately apparent (I don't know how it could have been), it really can be seen once you understand it. Name: Kendall
Pronouns: she/her One interesting thing about me is that my right leg is numb from hip to ankle, but it doesn't bother me too much. One thing I'm good at is multitasking. I am someone who frankly is doing too many things at once, but I make it work. One thing I would like to learn is honestly just being more creative and being able to think really far outside of the box. Even though my career will not be in art, these thinking skills can be key to solving tough problems. |
